Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I schedule an appointment?
All appointments may be scheduled by calling 518.506.9985, sending a text message, or by email to massage@essentialindulgences.net. Since hours are by appointment only, they are often flexible and are offered 7 days a week both day and evening. If you have a tight schedule it is best you call at least 48 hours or more before your preferred date and time. Take a chance, sometimes I have last minute openings!
What is your 24 hour cancellation policy?
I understand life has unexpected commitments and last minute delays. Always call me if you think you will not be able to make your appointment (early flu symptoms for example), that way we can reschedule for a better time. Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel any scheduled appointment. By giving 24 hours notice you avoid being charged the full session fee. Cancellations must be made by phone.
Are There Any Medical Conditions That Would Make Massage or Bodywork Inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, you complete a health history and interview with me. It is very important that you inform the me of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. I may require written approval prior to the session and may ask to have your physician's contact information and your permission to discuss any concerns.
Do you accept insurance?
I currently accept NYS No-Fault insurance coverage. I currently do not participate in any health insurance or insurance discount plan, but I am planning to in the near future. Health savings accounts and other pre-taxed medical savings can be used to cover massage therapy. I can provide a detailed receipt that provides all the information you need to submit to your health savings or other pre-tax medical savings plan.
Where Will My Massage or Bodywork Session Take Place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a private, comfortable room with music playing to help you relax. You will lie on a massage table especially designed for your comfort. The table includes a warmer that will be used at your request.
Must I Be Completely Undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. NYS law requires verbal consent to undrape the chest of a male client and written consent to undrape the chest of a female client. All draping practices used are within New York State’s Guidelines for practice.
What Parts of My Body Will Be Massaged?
You and the I will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require attention. A typical full body session may include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals. Your comfort is ensured throughout the session. If for any reason your are uncomfortable please inform me right away. Some techniques require the use of pressure while others provide a lighter touch. You will be asked during the session how comfortable you are with the pressure being used, but you are encouraged to request more or less pressure at your discretion.
What Should I Do During the Massage or Bodywork Session?
Relax. Let the stresses of the day fade. I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask me questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
